Even with being careful, using forward cameras and looking before turning,,,,my front splitter found a curb and emitted that awful sound. How big of a job is the replacement. Can if be done at home in the garage with the front up on ramps? Hate to take it to the dealership$$$$ already ordered the replacement.
No need going to the dealer and paying the big $$$ for shop labor; if a friend doesn't have ramps, make up your own out of 2X6 boards, two high with beveled ends to drive up on.....or go to Harbor or Walmart and buy metal ones. Then you'll have some for oil changes or whatever else comes along. After market like C7 Carbon Splitters are put on using factory airdam screws; use your electric drill and 7MM (I think) socket to remove and replace your splitter. Depending on how hard you hit the curb, you may have cracked the undertray that the splitter is attached to or possibly cracked some body paint just above the splitter.....ask me how I know!
Good luck, it really is an easy fix. Just take your time, use a friend, more hands make the job much easier.
Easy removal and install. Only suggestion is to get someone to help hold it up until you get a few screws in to hold it even / level.
Did mine without a ramp. Just pulled to the edge of my driveway that sloped down into the grass and did the work.
I went with a cheaper EOS ZR1 splitter because they are all going to be damaged at some point. Figured better to spend $750 vs. $2k for a ACS splitter. I think it looks great and it has held up. Still looks perfect.
I too went with the less expensive version from Extreme Online Store after having had 3 carbon flash painted poverty splitters replaced due to damage. One by me. One by a valet. And one by the dealer’s porter.
This looks tons better than the flat black poverty splitter IMO.
It's a super easy install. The "hardest" part (and by hard I mean the most time consuming) is drilling out the current rivets. Make sure you buy a replacement that doesn't require drilling...its not a part to go cheap as it will cost you headaches. Here is the under view of when I completed mine. If you need any help - just PM me and I can share my # and walk you through exactly what you need and what to do.
I wanted to factory look but wanted it to match all of the carbon flash...so I went with this... I can tell you where to get one, if this is the look you want.
