I'm happy with the C7 tail light design. I bought my C7 because it was different with new design elements and improved quality over all previous models.

Corvette has gone through a number of tail light iterations and not all have been round.

The C4 model tail lights transitioned from round to square early into the model run. Well, somewhat square. The designers started with a square and softened it. Nonetheless, the overall shape became square.

The C5 went to an elliptical shape.

The C6 transitioned the C5 ellipse to a more round ellipse, nonetheless, still an ellipse and not a perfect circle as was found in the C1 through C3 models, and early C4s'.

-----------

I know the tail light design of the C7 is a huge departure and somewhat controversial from the previous models. But, after sixty years of round, roundish tail lights, I'm ok saying goodbye to them, as I had to do with the pop-up headlights..

------------

If you have not had the opportunity to watch the vids below, please take the time to do so. Tadge and Tom Peters, Design Director discusses the C7 overall design in Part-One, and Tom Peters addresses the Tail Light design in Part-Two.

True. The C7 rear is dreadful; the C8, truly horrible.
