You won't be disatisfied spending money on the Carmax warranties. It's the right place to buy a used car in my experience with them.
Are they expecting the car to be serviced at Carmax? I had their service department do a 30,000-mile service on my Toyota for much less than the Toyota dealer. I have no issue with having the Vette serviced by Carmax. What if the car is serviced at a Chevy dealer and they find something broke, can they fix it right then and there under warranty?
YES, you don't have to take it to Carmax service ever. The warranty can be handled by any Service dealer/dept. You'll get their number to contact them directly to setup the warranty service. They also have roadside assistance. The only benefit (not worth it for me) is if you do take it to Carmax they take less money from your deductible (thinking it is only 25 or 50 bucks).

We have Auto Mall Dr here in Tucson where the Chevy dealer and Carmax are a block away and both are about 3 miles from my home. I had a warranty on a 2010 that I bought from a Chevy dealer when I bought the car. When it was on the lift for service they found something broke and fixed it right then under the warranty.
From what I hear (and experienced once) the Carmax service dept did a good job and I would willingly take the car to Carmax.
other than going to Carmax to buy a car....is there a way to price out their warranty???? im not asking for exact numbers, but just curious to know what warranty company they use and about what it costs per year?
Went to my Chevy dealer yesterday. I bought a 2017 Colorado Z71 with 26K miles. I made them include the Certified Car and Warranty that comes with Certified for NO COST! That alone saved me nearly $1,800. Then I beat them up for another $875 off the asking price of the truck. Also got 3.09% financing. It's all about are you willing to walk away if you don't get what you want and your negotiating skills.
I've never paid for extended warranty coverage except for my C7.
can someone please let us know the cost of the warranty?
I won't know the exact number for about 2 weeks. I do know there are many other companies that sell extended warranties. I bought one from the Chevy dealer a few years back on my used 2010 GS. I get offers o the phone, in the mail, and online to buy these warranties.

About two years ago I walked away from a dealer because he wouldn't come down a nickel...boy, in hindsight that was a mistake.

you can take your car to any chevy dealer of your choice. I they find anything, the chevy dealer will contact the carmax for authorization.
I don’t know if the limited warranty was mentioned, I read this on the carmax site. Every car we sell automatically comes with a CarMax limited warranty even if your car is still covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. This means your vehicle’s major systems, plus hundreds of parts inside and out are covered, including labor. We offer a 90-Day/4,000-Mile (whichever comes first) Limited Warranty. See store for written details. I’m looking at a carmax 2019 GS in Florida, the information has been great help.I’m a Current C3 owner looking to purchasing a C7 GS.

I received my trade-in value from Carmax after finding a car I wanted. The car was in TX so I reserved the car and paid the shipping fee to AZ. The car is scheduled to arrive in two weeks but the offer on my car expires tomorrow. Carmax has told me twice on the phone that they will honor the trade since I started the process during the time it was active. What concerns me is that they said they would do an appraisal on the date of sale and unless there were substantial miles added they would honor the old trade value.
Has anybody had this situation, and did they honor the original appraisal after it expired?

Barring excess mileage or a new accident, they'll extend your appraisal value until after the car that you're purchasing from them arrives and you can complete the deal. Though it is technically two deals/transactions (you selling them your car and you purchasing theirs), they will keep your appraisal open. Same thing happened with me when I dealt with them in the past (car took longer to get here and get ready than expected) and they kept my trade in value the same as they had given me 2 weeks earlier.

Sorry I don't remember every number as they have several choices based on years and deductibles (very flexible). The last numbers I saw were $1,500 to $1,800. You can also go into Carmax Maxcare and they have a estimator.

That makes me feel better. When you say "two transactions" do they still give you a trade-in for sales tax purposes? That is my main reason for the trade-in, the savings o sales tax.

Well they should though what they normally do now is after 5 days make you resubmit your trade request. I had to do that several times before but what I'll tell you is that my last trade I had to submit 3 trade requests during my in transit status. Once because it aged out and once because I changed my delivery to "at home" (never went through with the at home). In the best possible scenario each time I entered my info the price went UP. I ended up getting $2,000 more than my first offer in only 3 weeks time. What I would tell you is go onto EDMUNDS and quote your car. I always do this just to get another number before I trade-in. Well I didn't know Carmax purchased Edmunds and their last step they'll provide you an actual quote from Carmax. I say that because that quote came in $900 better than the quote I recv'd from Carmax only 3 days later and they said they would accept that as a valid offer. Doesn't hurt to just try.

We don't get the same trade in tax credits here in my state unfortunately. That said, I only said 2 transactions because you could sell them your car and not buy theirs and you could buy their car and not sell yours. If your state allows trade in tax credits though, you'll surely be able to do it all in one transaction and they'll honor your appraisal.
