It really depends on the type of summer tire. I have driven on Michelin Cup2's when it was 20° outside from Green bay to Oklahoma, zero issues. I drive on my Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires year round as long as it isnt wet outside or snowing, I drive them down in the 20's as well.
That refers to the outside temp. The tires that came on my 2016 Stingray (as well as every other Stingray) were summer only tires. The grip was lessened quite a bit when temps got below 40 degrees. I just switched to Michelin AS/4 ZP tires last week.
Drive at 40 degrees and under on Summers, is like riding a Big Wheel with those hard plastic wheels, you could slide all over if too much power is put down. Got to admit, Big Wheels were fun !
