Turning the key fob key inserted into the lock just to the right of the rear license plate pops the cargo hatch, but not enough to pop it open. It is hung up to where it will not fully release the rear cargo hatch.
Anyone have this happen? And does anyone have a solution?
It popped open the first time l tried it and l plugged in the charger and closed the cargo hatch.. But now it will not open fully. It pops up slightly but does not release completely.
By looking at the photo above does it look like it is charging? ...and perhaps if l wait long enough that the battery will charge so that l can use the key fob normally??
The battery is a GM AC Delco OE battery from the Chevy dealership and is 1 year old. It sat for a bit over a month and l was unable to put the charger on it during that time, hence the dead battery.
You might have to wait a couple days but the battery tender should bring it up to enough voltage to open the door. Weird that the hatch manual release is stuck. Maybe the above tip will work.

Can anyone confirm by the color of the lights that are on, on the battery charger, can anyone cofirm that it is actually charging?

Confirmed. The green light below the corvette icon tells you it's connected to the battery 12V. The orange light in the middle (1/2 full battery icon) tells you 120V is connected and it's charging. When it's fully charged it will move to the light on the right (green). But it may unlock before it gets to the fully charged stage. The pic below shows fully charged. This is what mode mine is in right now. When I put it in storage it took about half a day before it went from the middle light to the right-most light. But mine was a pretty full battery since I was driving it.
Is the hatch open far enough that you can snake in some sort of heavy gauge wire (coat hanger?) to grab and pull the door open lever inside the driver's quarter panel?
Is your license plate frame keeping you from being able to turn the key far enough to unlock? My father in law had this issue. After I took his plate off it opened easily.

If pushing down on the hatch and turning the key does not pop the hatch open, you may just have to wait until the battery tender charges the battery up enough to get the electronics working. I am assuming that your key fob is not locked in the car - it just won't open it up due to the dead battery.

Zjoe6,
Thank you for confirming that it is charging and for the pic! Waiting for it to charge. Will check on it later today.
I tried the pick ax suggestion but it just ripped up the hatch into a bunch of pieces and the latch did not budge. Will wait a bit longer to see if the battery charges. If not, l have an 8 pound sledge hammer that should help.
Key turns ok, pops the hatch, but the lock still hangs up and does not release the hatch. If it is cable operated, it feels like the cable does not move all the way, move enough to release the lock.
To complicate matters worse, l can't see the battery charger lights well enough to be sure what colors the lights are.
The main light at the bottom appears to be yellow, and the light on the half battery indicator appears yellow or orange.
Can anyone confirm if the lights as described are charging the battery?
Don't have an answer to your indicator light question, but if the latch is hanging up, is this a situation that could be remedied using an aerosol can of penetrant with an extension wand to spray into the mechanism? If that method is tried, definitely watch out for messy overspray.
