Hi everyone. This weekend while on my way to see the Súper bowl at a family members house, my C7 Stingray (A8) started having engine issues. I had driven 80miles with no problems and once I got off the freeway, that’s when my car broke down. At first the car started shaking a little but a couple of seconds later the car started to really shake and sounded like it was misfiring or cammed to get a better idea of the sound it was making. The exhaust was starting to smell like raw gas so the engine seemed to not burn the gas completely. Today, I used a scanner (after getting the car towed) and these three codes appeared. Has anyone had this problem with a stock Stingray? Has anyone seen these codes and have an idea of what exactly this could be? I’m taking the car in tomorrow to get it looked at. The engine didn’t sound blown so I’m positive it’s not a blown engine. My C7 has 89K miles of that helps.
Did the outside temperature drop while driving? When did you fill-up the gas tank prior to the trip? Have you had any mice problems in the past?
I am guessing maybe, a bad MAF/MAP sensor, clogged air intake, water in the gas, split air/vacuum hose. But nothing serious.
Good luck. Let us know what the tech tells you and what is the real cause in the end.
So just got back from the shop and looks like a valve spring broke, which would explain the loss of power, shaking and exhaust sound. I just hope the damage is the spring and nothing else. Has anyone had downstream damage from a valve spring malfunction?

Thanks!
My 16 LT1 Stingray, cylinder bank 7, at 7,300 miles. Luckily under warranty, so GM paid for the entire top half of the motor (my Vette tech was a friend, he replaced everything). Not guaranteed, but very likely you scored the cam too. The OEM AFM lifters are garbage, in general. As soon as my 19 Z is out of warranty, it’s going to Lingenfelter for new lifters and complete removal of the entire AFM setup.
You may want to consider replacing the VLOM too.

Yeah, so I got to see the damage and for me it was cylinder 5. Lucky to have been only the spring and nothing else but to be cautious I decided to go with replacing the push rods, valve springs and lifters. Here's to having my baby fixed soon! I'll be updating soon.
For me it was number 2 , unfortunately it let loose while traveling 70 MPH on the highway in the left lane , valve dropped into motor and the resulting carnage required a new engine... bad part , the engine blew , the good part , they did not try to patch it back together , they just orderded a new motor and had my car back to me in less than 7 days

However, I’m assuming that was during the “good old days” when factories were running and everything everywhere wasn’t on back order. So frustrating getting anything done these days.

Yes it was pre Covid , especially since I insisted it had to be a brand new GM motor and not a GM remanufactured unit
