Default Luck ran out

2018 GS 23,500 miles. Bought secondhand with 1800 miles. Finally cracked a wheel. Knew it would happen just didn’t know when! National Auto Care covered it but policy up soon so need start looking for new after markets! I think I know where it happened. Went over RR tracks at night and was very uneven asphalt at 60 mph. Right rear. Oh well lucky to make it this far on them!

I am glad it was covered! Get some good forged rims.

GM should burn in hell for those cracks in the widebody wheels. I've hit lumps, tracks, holes, stuff, and whatever and not cracked any wheels BUT I've got the Stingray Z51 model.

I have a Grand Sport and have hit all sorts of stuff, just nothing bad enough to bend or crack a rim. My luck could run out too. I admit I'm always looking ahead at the pavement for danger. Sort of trained myself to do that. Not that easy to do in the dark. Train crossings are always red alert if I don't know the crossing. There's one fairly close to my house that's so smooth you can barely feel it. I always wanted to find the workers that did that crossing and buy them a bunch of beer. Before they fixed I had to crawl over it as slowly as I could. It was a bent/cracked wheel waiting to happen.

I am the exact same way. My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts. She says I drive like I'm drunk. I'm sure if a cop was behind me he would think the same. But so far so good.

Sorry to hear about the cracked wheel and great that the policy will cover a replacement. As you say, best to start saving for a good set of forged aftermarket wheels.

Glad to read that since I have the same model Corvette. Some of these roads in western PA are terrible. I've ridden dirt bike on smoother trails than some of these roads.

Soon as I read the thread title I suspected this was another wheel report.

I just joined the club as well. I used the stock wheels for my "winter" wheels mounted with all-season tires. Suddenly had a slow leak - took it to Discount Tire and they brought the wheel to me showing the crack and bubbles coming from it. Had another that was slightly bent. At the least, get flow-forged wheels - my summer wheels are forged so I won't have to worry about this happening again.

Glad I'm not alone. What else are you supposed to do with all the bad roads we drive on? I have all the pot hole locations memorized. Man hole cover sink holes suck too.

I purchased a National Auto Care policy on windshield, wheels and other components. They have completely covered and replaced 2 W/S’s and 1 wheel so far. Heard bad things about NAC but they have stepped up and handled claims without much grieve.

The real solution is more sidewall and less rim diameter. Rubber band tires only work on perfect roads!

Me too. I would honestly say in a 25-50 mile radius from my house I know where every one is.

Our roads around here have gotten so bad that if you aren't dodging the potholes the troopers think you ARE drunk!

Me too. I was driving down the road and had a car pretty close on my donkey. I did the swoop swip right and left, the guy following didn't. He thumped. Down about 100 yards was another manhole cave and when I did the swoop swip right and left, my new friend learned and followed me. HE DIDN'T THUMP. Roads suck. I can't wait to build them back better!
