The interesting thing is I don't see anything that states why it has a branded title!
Maybe what you really wanted was a Carfax or Autocheck report? I mean both are good to check when buying a car but these reports have more of accident and title issues I think (I'm not an expert).
The VIS report will not give you titling information. It only gives the maintenance history and if there is a warranty block on the drive train or the whole vehicle. CarFax and Autocheck will give you the mileage, accident and title information. Neither one of those reports is infallible. The information they have is from dealers that participate in their program and also information from insurance companies and state DMV's. Not every insurance company or dealer participates. Good Luck in your quest.

I bought a C5 with a branded title out of California (I'm in Texas). It showed to be a manufacturer buyback. Neither the GM history report nor Carfax showed why. Good luck tracking it down.

Yes, you can ask for the report, but best bet is to go to a dealer and ask them to run one, as previously mentioned. The dealer may be hesitant to run the report if you have not bought the car, but can’t hurt to ask.
