So long story short I bought a C7 GS 2017 with 4,000 and have been dallying it (I know little insane it seems like compared to everyone keeping it garage kept/Sunday driver). Put some mileage on it and random codes have appeared. Suspension, stabilitrak and rear axle. Mainly rear axel. This seems like a come thing on the vehicle and was wondering if cold weather or battery could be the issue. Service message pops up and instantly disappears and got me nervous because this will be my daily until I find a beater that isn’t a rip off on the market. I heard also people having to replace the whole code module. Mind you no warranty so I’m trying to troubleshoot before taking it to a dealership and being ripped off for a simple fix or something not to worry about. I would like to say I’m pretty mechanically inclined but not use to the mainly tech features on the C7 compared to previous vehicles. Thank you for any help or input!
I would start with the battery. Being a 2017 model and likely the factory installed battery...
okay sounds good. I’m also thinking this crazy weather in Texas hasn’t been helping with the dramatic temperature changes and just wanted to see if anyone else had similar issues.
Low battery voltage on startup can cause all kinds of errors. "Service Rear Axle" is a popular error due to communications problems.
Replace the battery. Have parts store test the new battery before you accept it. Size (group) 48 / H6, CCA at least 660 CCA (OEM). More amps are better.
Good instructions on replacing the battery from member JerryU (attached):
If you don't have a battery strap like the one in the writeup, loop a stout rope under the battery to help lift it out of the car. It is a tight fit if you have big hands.

Hopefully it is just your battery starting to show signs of needing replacement. Certainly easy enough to have that checked and cost very little (perhaps nothing) to do so.
Thank you everyone for the replies! I definitely have a lot more questions soon and glad the community seems very alive. Update: check engine light did turn on. Read the code as a U0073. Read up that it’s possible BCM replacement. I cleared the code and have monitored the volts on the dash to see any drastic changes and see if they pops any codes again. So far not a single code/service check has popped up. Will be changing battery and buying a battery warmer for adverse weather. Thank you again everyone!
