I have been using Aukey, Aglaia and Apeman dash cams from Amazon. I don't know if I can recommend any one camera but I follow a simple guideline and it has worked well every time. I have found that I can get a good camera if I shop in the $70-80 range. The brand names of these cameras do change for some reason, I think Aukey became Aglaia at one time and it is something else now. The cameras usually last anywhere from 4-8 years for me. I now look for the ones that have a super capacitor as a power backup. The ones that have a lithium battery will stop keeping the date and time after about 3-4 years. I stick to a view angle in the 140-150 degree range. I found that 170 was too distorted as a front facing camera. A couple of the cameras can shoot at 1440p, but I stick to recording at 1080p. The higher resolutions just used up SD card space, and gave little to no improvement in video quality. I use Samsung EVO or SanDisk Ultra micro SD cards of 64G size and that is good for a couple of weeks worth of recordings at least. I am also now using glue pads instead of the suction mounts. The suction mount will give up suction when the temperature changes and usually ends up setting off the motion alarm in the cars at the most inconvenient times.
I don't use the PDR as a dash cam since it has to be manually started every time the car is started and the resolution in the PDR is quite bad.
Hope some of the above helps you in choosing a dash cam.
Best regards,
Vip.
I'm running a Blackvue in my 2014. I have it mounted in the same view as the PDR would have. Gives me great video, speed, location and stuff. Start the car and the camera comes online automatically.
I have Blackvue 2-channel cams in both vehicles. Since my Vette is a vert, the rear camera is not mounted at the hatch, but other pointed backwards just above the rear view mirror. Pretty effective with the top down, not very useful with top up. My other vehicle is a 4Runner. Blackview has a neat power option that just plugs into the diag port under your dash. Happy with them, but they are not cheap.
Good source of info is thedashcamstore.com. I have no connection there, but did buy mine from them.
I've owned many dashcams and my favorites are the Mercylion integrated dashcam. Love the wi-fi capability. No need to remove the memory card to transfer files. I also got the battery pack for both cars so it records while the car is not running without running down the car battery. It's a nice setup.

I see it's been a while since you’ve posted, but I just wanted to ask if anyone here has tried one of the slimmer dash cams lately, like the Viofo A119 Mini 2. I’m thinking about how it fits behind the rearview mirror without blocking the windshield view. Also curious about how people are routing the wiring in their C7s without going through the fuse box.
I’ve been using the Insta360 X3 for a few months, mounted it behind the rearview mirror with a small bracket. What I really like is the ability to reframe footage later since it captures everything around the car. You can check it out at insta360.com—they’ve got all the info and accessories there. The app’s also super easy to use, especially for grabbing clips after a drive.

I bought the VIOFO VS1 for my GMC Sierra I use the PDR as a dash cam in Corvette. I choose the VS1 for a few reasons . I wanted a “ Mini “ I wanted a small cam on windshield I also didn’t want a screen the VS1 is wifi so if I want to view I just view on iPhone or pull sd card and view on computer. This isn’t a hassle / problem for me as I didn’t get cam to view my drives etc just wanted video protection if something happens. So I don’t view often ! I liked that this mini has voice commands for about six to eight commands. Video quality day & night are very good to me no concerns. I hard wired so I get to use the parking mode when vehicle is off and the hard wire kit has a built in vehicle battery protection where if vehicle battery level drops to the level you choose the cam shuts off . There are 3 or 4 levels that you can set your battery protection too. Only thing I found is that when I first wanted to view thru the WiFi my Sierra car play Bluetooth would bump the VIOFO WiFi off iPhone. Once I figured that out I had to turn off car play Bluetooth while viewing then back on once done viewing all is good to view thru viofo wifi . Last it cost 100.00 so not much invested in dash cam.

I just purchased the Escort M2 to run with my Redline 360c on my Blendmount. Will be mounting it all up tomorrow and doing some test runs over the rest of the week. Will report back when I have more info.
