I found it! On the side of the left muffler there was brown splatter that smelled like dog-doo. I was dreading going to the dealer and telling them that something in my rear smelled like sh-t.
It smells like sh-t. When I bent down to pick up my FOB I noticed it.
Hmmmmm....... could have run over some dog ____? Or, someone pranked your car while parked with some ____.
I had a dead smell coming from a car 25 yrs. ago. Turned out to be a toad had crawled up overnight on the wheel/rotor disk and met his demise there. Removed the wheel to clean the carcass out.
Animal parts and "such" are not that unusual baked onto exhausts, especially on low cars and in rural areas. As suggested, clean it off and go on. You may have to lift it a little to gain access, but it will clean off with some effort... or, if not that or having someone else do it, you can let it burn off. As they say, "S**t happens."
