Rommel at 13:19, Mar 7 It's a great day here at General Motors Customer Assistance. My name is Rommel. Hi Elmer! How may I help you?
You at 13:19, Mar 7 Hi. I have a 2014 corbette and I know that 3g is going away. Will the buttons on my mirror still work and how do they work without the 3g link
You at 13:20, Mar 7: corbette is code for corvette
Rommel at 13:21, Mar 7 Yes, they will still work. I want to inform you also that Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles on the road in the U.S. today use OnStar hardware with AT&T's cellular network for connectivity. All GM vehicles that support 3G also support 4G LTE technology. GM is continuing to deploy over-the-air software updates to ensure a high-quality experience in areas that do not have 3G underlay.
You at 13:22, Mar 7 So, my 2014 is going to get an update to switch it to 4gLTE?
Rommel at 13:24, Mar 7 No, you can still use your mirror and that will still work if their will be update you will be informed but now no update yet since all GM vehicles that support 3G also support 4G LTE technology.
You at 13:25, Mar 7 So, there is no issue with 3G going away as my car also works with 4GLTE, excellent.
Rommel at 13:25, Mar 7 That is correct. Do you have any other questions that I may assist you today?
You at 13:25, Mar 7 Nope, you have done well grasshopper, thanks.
Rommel at 13:26, Mar 7 Feel free to message us back if you need any further assistance, know that were always here to help.

The one that OnStar hasn't answered is my 2003 Tahoe which went through the analog signal sunset back in 2008. In 2007 I had the vehicle upgraded which meant the dealer installed a new digital OnStar module in the car. The cost of the hardware installation also provided a year's On-Star subscription. When I asked the OnStar Advisor how they were planning on updating my 2G maybe 3G on a 19 year old vehicle I got humma, humma, humma and then we will have to get back with you on that.

from what i understand, 2015 was when the OnStar modules switched from 2G to 4GLTE cell cards, therefore 2015+ will be fine after the sunset. i've seen talks of OnStar offering folks with older models an OBDII device that works through your telephone to provide similar services to what they had before... but i never cared to look further into it because i made a point to disable our OnStar rather than give it another avenue to snoop / control my life.

Yes, I'm scratching my head.
everything prior to 4G-LTE (including early/basic 4G) will be offline by the end of this year.
