Use the 12V socket in the trunk. If you’re using a battery tender they sell an adapter for the cigarette lighter fitting. Just close the trunk on the cable, it won’t hurt the cable or the seals.

Here's what I did and it worked great. Kept mine connected the entire time I wasn't driving it. The battery was just under 5 years old when I sold the C7 and never a minutes trouble from it.
How INfrequently must one drive their Vette to need such a device ?
Once a month ? Once a week ? Surely not necessary for a daily driver - or is it ?
TIA
A lot of us guys that have to deal with winter store our car. I just got mine out today. Had the battery tender on it all winter and it fired right up like it was 70 and sunny. Although it was 57 and sunny..

It's difficult to make a "one size fits all" rule, but I plug mine in if the car will go more than a week without driving. Some people go 2-3 weeks, but the plug in makes it easy to be kind to your battery.
If you do a lot of short trips, plugging it in everyday is advised.
If you drive the car daily for 30 minutes or more per trip, then you might not need the maintainer.
If you store the car, the length of time you store the car is a consideration, then hook up the maintainer.
I keep mine plugged in, as I don't drive as much as I'd like, and sometimes don't get the Vette out for a week or two. I mounted mine on a section of 2x4, suspended by an retractable
, so I can move it up and out of the way. I HAVE to move it to get to the driver door, so I never forget. Also, I have my charger plugged in to a smart plug (Wemo) and just a few taps on my apple watch to turn it on and off (the plug is is a hard to get to place).
Geeky, I know. But works for me.

I was worried about my battery this winter as it was the first time I was keeping the car in a place with no electricity. But I bought one of those portable battery booster/powerbox things and would go down to my storage unit once a week and hook up my tender to that box for 24 hours at a time. That practice was enough to keep my battery fully charged for the 3 month storage period this winter, so I'm very happy about that.
