Default Remove X pipe / no crossover

Recently put NorCal Downpipes on. Car is MUCH louder. Still has secondary cats. I track a lot and half the days have sound restrictions plus it was a little loud for me honestly.

had a local shop put some nice magnaflow mufflers under the tunnel plate. He had to remove the x pipe. So right now no cross over pipe at all. Was a big job. Not much room in there.

I haven’t heard it yet. Everything I have read says x pipe drops the DB by a few which is important for tracking. Smooths it out too. He said there just wasn’t room. Was kind of bummed when he told me over the phone. Have to look at it and see if possible H pipe can fit. He said it was a lot quieter than before…..

My only suggestion from reading this is to find out what exactly is going to be done to your car before it's done next time. I hope it suits you now.

Ha ! Yeah I thought I did. I gave him a Magnaflow x pipe but apparently there wasn’t room. He’s putting in an H pipe now. I prefer the x pipe sound but it’s better to have some kind of crossover than none at all.

I don't understand how there's no room for an x pipe, just straight?
The connection of an x pipe doesn't actually take up any space, it almost reduces total space because the pipes come together.

not following this

after putting in the Downpipes it was way louder. So I had two 20 inch long magnaflows installed. With those and the secondary cats still i there he said there wasn’t room for the x pipe. He will check again today . Otherwise he is putting custom H pipe. A lot easier to fit in there.

heres a pic. Doesn’t look like x pipe would quite fit after the cats.

ahhhhh, gotcha
that makes sense
I had no idea you meant you had that custom a set up. Yeah those cats take up a lot of space
I did the corsa x pipe (pre non catted x pipe ban) and with a non cat x pipe it was way cleaner and more space.
But mine is just a plain x pipe nothing else going on.

so you put those magnaflows in your mid section exhaust? Did you get rid of the mufflers all together then?

still have factory mufflers. Downpipes made the car too loud. I was already fighting sound at the track. Added the magnaflows and I’d say it’s a little quieter that with the factory Downpipes. Hoping the H pipe drops it further. Supposed to.

Is there any reason you went with cat deletes and then cutting up your factory midpipe vs. ARH midlength headers, which mate to the factory midpipe?

I think the ARH mid-lengths would give you more power than just cat deletes, and would likely be equally as loud with the option cats. My understanding is that, if you get the catted version, a tune is not required.

those look nice but honestly these Downpipes are within 5 whp of LT headers on these cars. DP was $700 and easier install as well. I can’t have any primary cats for racing. They will just melt.factory ones were shot on stock car after a few months of tracking. Too much heat. I cut up the mid section because it was just too loud the way it was. Even bigger issue on the track than it already was on those low DB days.
