I was getting the family sedan inspected yesterday (Mass annual ritual) and while shooting the breeze the inspector mentioned some late model casr being totaled because of mice eating the wiring we both had a little laugh at that. Fast forward one day. I stripped the cover off my 2019 Stingray and tried to back it out of the garage. Barely runs, popping in the exhaust, stalls. l Pop the hood and find the intake hose and tubing with holes all over the plastic parts. Seems there is a mouse nest INSIDE the intake manifold and sunflower seeds everywhere. Repair will be covered under comprehensive but with a
$500 deductible. Gotta stop feeding the birds in the winter or find a better place to store the feed
That sort of thing happens all the time to Goldwing riders that store their bikes over the winter months. The buggers nest in on top of the air filter, it has a long interval between changing and takes a couple of hours to get to, so many go years without being checked. One guy found his covered with a nest full of M&Ms, plus the wire insulation on the bikes is soy based so the mice like to chew on that.
Hope your repair goes well.
I hope the repair goes well for you. Next fall buy a lot of mouse traps and do NOT buy any poison. Poisoned mice start feeling bad and look for a place to recover. If they have been to your car they may remember that place. Then they die. Then they smell, a really disgusting smell.
Sucks that Happened.I'd be
Gotta start trapping them suckers the minute the car is on Lockdown. They love peanut butter.
I have no mercy for them 1DOWN..This was a bad year.Thinking 11 or so this season.

Sorry to hear about the mice and the damage they caused. Hope the repair is not too expensive (although the $500 deductible is bad enough). Get those traps out early next time you store the car.
FYI there's a company that makes an electronic mice repellent and a flavored tape wrapping that is supposedly a hot peppery flavor that mice hate and not the normal soy flavor tape wrap.
Follow up on my rodent problem. I got my car back on Wednesday the 18th. One part on back order but it doesn't affect the driving or performance. I only have good things to relate on the dealer I selected to repair my car. Bennington (Vt.) Auto Mall ( a Corvette certified dealer). Ashley Bushee, the service advisor i worked with did an outstanding job keeping me updated and returning my phone calls. She worked well with my insurance carrier, no issues at all..Another plus, my car was kept inside for the duration of the repair ! .
I just checked my engine bay, there was a few bird seed shells but thankfully no damage or little eyes staring back at me. Definitely will not be putting bird seed in the garage anymore.
I don't roll the dice speculating whether poisons/traps/wives-tails remedies (moth *****, dryer sheets etc.) will work.
I pay a professional every couple years to come and treat. Sure it costs $200>$300 dollars, however I have never had any rodent damage in 47 years owning Corvettes.
Sorry to hear about your car. I've been lucky so far parking in my garage for the winter, but I also put bounce sheets inside / outside the car, plastic wrap the air intake under the hood, and foil wrap the rr exhaust, as well as cover the car. FYI, Wire Harnesses for cars are dipped in Vegetable Oil at the wire harness plants which is another reason why mice like to eat the harnesses. I know this from my 30 yrs at an Auto Mfg plant, so you need to do as much as possible to keep them out in the winter months....
