Battery seems to be getting a little weak so will be changing it out soon. Have kept it on tender entire life of battery but I am reading that 5 - 6 yrs is about life.
My question is: will I loose any of my current settings when I change the battery, window index, radio setting, etc.
Thanks
No. At least I didn't, and I had it out for quite a while too doing the change out.
If you run into trouble, there's a DIY tutorial under the Stickys about C7 DIY categories. Member JerryU of the forum had the most cogent tips that helped me greatly on the learning curve of R & R of the C7's battery.
Read the sticky and popped the trim piece loose as stated in sticky 3" up. Is there a trick to pop it back in, assume you have to get it perfectly aligned and whack it. I just did a test trial and haven't changed battery and piece seemed a little ***** to get popped back in place. Am I missing something?? Thanks
I'll take a look at Sticky #3 and try to see what you're referring to. I'm just getting up for coffee now. Another member will probably field your Q before me, here...... Standby
I did a test on mine a while back and was able to get the carpet back and foam lid off with no tearing or any difficulty. I did not remove the wheel well cover. I guess if you wanted to fold the carpet completely back and away it may take a little more effort and care to not tear the carpet. It didn't seem so difficult to me but I didn't do the entire job. I would not hesitate to do my own battery replacement. I've read a lot of the threads and know where people have had problems. Most of it was the re-assembly and not having the connections seated all the way down. Also the black wire was not reconnected (ground?). And of course the biggest complaint is that people can't lift the battery out. A couple of channel locks clamped to the posts might help that (don't short the posts together!). There are people who have gotten their hand under to just lift it out too. I've seen it in a video. They guy made it look easy.

Maybe you didn't have it lined up properly. I haven't ever removed it myself. Haven't read anything about that particular issue. Jerryu just said to wack it with the bottom of your fist. Maybe get a bright flashlight in there to see if the holes are lined up.
