Default adjustable toe link question

I'm going to get a set of Granatelli toe links soon. I've watched their install video a few times. Simple simple. For those of you with adjustable toe links, did you install at home then drive to get an alignment? The video shows adjusting the new links to match the length of the stock ones. I'd put on a set of tires I don't care about to drive there and back of the alignment...preventing premature wear on my other tires.

Thanks guys....

I put a set of Granatelli toe links when I first got my 2016 Z, drove about 20 miles to get aligned, of course with the OE tires, they did not last long anyway, once I put a set of All Season Michelins on the car, with the Granatelli fine tuning the alignment was easy with them installed.

You can get the toe close by following the Granatelli instructions. However, if you don't need the extra adjustment provided by the Granatelli's I suggest you don't install them. For street driving the stock toe links work fine and if you set the rear caster at 0.0 degrees the stock toe links will provide sufficient adjustment for most track camber settings. If you set rear caster at +0.7 degrees the stock toe links cannot adjust to 0 toe or toe-in. The minimum toe-out that can be reached is about 0.5 mm rear caster set at +0.7 and rear camber set at -1.7 degrees.

The bad part of the Granatelli Toe links is the Heim Joint style rod ends. They aren't really made for a car that is driven a lot on the street and the outboard ones are located where they pick up a lot of dirt from the wheels. The joints will wear much faster than the sealed stock end.

Bill, that’s interesting regarding the wear on these. I’d planned on getting adjustable toe links cause I’ve had trouble getting -2.0 camber with 0.0 caster and toe. Z51 btw. Usually have to settle on -1.5 camber.

is there a better toe link regarding what you mentioned.

I put the links on my 2019 and I also used these boots.

BTW changing to a standard tierod type adjustment is SO much easier than the eccentrics.

I keep wondering what I do wrong regarding my Corvettes - tires give me about 30K miles, brakes around 100K, and end links are replaced, maybe, in the +100K miles I put on Corvettes.... seven Vettes, 31 years and a LOT LOT LOT of miles.....

I put the links on around 15k miles ago.It is a must have item when lowering to get the tires happy for street wear.No dust shields here.
