just bought a 2016 2lt conv. i believe i should be able to use android auto but i cant seem to have it uploading with the phone plugged in. Any help would be great
not all of the 2016 had it but it could be added as an upload by the dealer. It was free in 2016 but they will charge you to upload it now. I would inquire at a chevy dealer. btw the ma-1 one with android in a 2016 is awesome
It is my understanding that not all 2016"s came with the Android App. It depended on when it was built. I have read on this Forum that if it did not come with t h e App, the Dealership Service Department could download it for you. It is unknown if there is a charge.
Hello, the cable connected to the phone must transfer DATA. Please check if the cable is acceptable for data and charge. Most cables are for charging only.
It also matters which USB port it's plugged into. Only use the one inside the center console. LIke the guy above said - it's got to be a good data cable and not just a charge cable too.
i've tried that as well, i have a appointment at the dealer tomorrow. Using the usb port in audio display storage i cant get the audio screen to close back up do to the cable am i missing something or a way to reroute the cable?

That one behind the screen is just meant for a thumb drive or something similar. I've got a tiny thumb drive I keep in mine with my .MP3 music files on it. That's not meant for an Android Auto cable.
The cable will not work if the Android Auto is not already in the car. I called the Dealer and they told me it will be $200 for the download!
For what I use, I am not sure it is worth it!
From what I've found out - that varies A LOT from dealer to dealer. You might want to pop around to a few different dealers and see what the answer is. I've also found that you're a LOT harder to say no to or say a ridiculous price to if you're standing right in front of them so actually go and don't just call. That's my experience anyway. Others may vary.
Sounds like the first question is if your head unit has Android Auto capability. Easy way to check is to go into settings and scroll down to the third screen (I think). If you are Android Auto capable, you'll see a menu for it in the settings, just like there is a menu for Apple Carplay. If you have that menu, your head unit has Android Auto.
Second question would be do you have Android Auto on your phone. On my older Samsung Galaxy S8, I had to install the app. On my new Galaxy S21 it is built into the operating system. So check to verify you have it on your phone.
Third would be the cable. Get a good quality cable from any phone shop or Amazon.
I don't know for sure if your 16 will be the same as my 19 but on mine, my phone auto connects via bluetooth every time I start the car. It will then let me answer and/or make calls. It will accept and display text messages also. I 'think' it would let me play music but haven't tried that. To use nav though I have to plug it into the usb port in the console. Perhaps others can say if you 16 will do the same as my 19. I just wanted to let you know what Android Auto will, and will not do, if you have to pay $200 for it.

FYI - Bluetooth functionality is completely different than Android Auto. Via BT you can make/receive calls, read/send text messages, use your address book, play music and so forth. But to use and control apps on your Android phone via the car's entertainment screen, you need to use Android Auto. Android Auto is only available when plugging into a USB port with a data cable. It is not available via BT or wireless connection.
