My car does not have navigation. I looked online and I can purchase the IO6 GM module and install it. Has anyone done this? How was your source for part quality and the experience?

Yes I have done this. Not difficult to do, just a pain to get at it due to the awkward position you have to undertake. I purchased from MVI - https://gm-navigation.com Great folks and great service! They have several options available based on your needs. Check them out.
I did the swap in my 2015 Sierra. It didn't come with Android Auto. Not a big job. If you have Android Auto, I would suggest you save your money and use Waze. Unless you're concerned with bragging rights. Otherwise, Waze is the way to go . I have navigation in my Vette and never use it. OEM updates are costly and required to be current. Waze is always current, offers road issues (cop sightings, road debris, vehicles on the side of the road, etc.) and is constantly updated for new places of commerce or interest. If possible, try it for a week or so and then make a decision. Won't cost a cent and may save you some money for future accessories.
By the way, I used MVI for my Sierra navigation upgrade and I agree, they are a first class operation.

I agree with "AZRenegade" on this one. In a few years, I expect those annual updates will no longer be available for the I06 GM Nav System. Also, since you have a 2019, aren't you eligible for the new GM Maps+ Navigation that replaces the old system? Anyway, I upgraded my 2014 C7 with the I05 system just to get Apple CarPlay that suits all my Nav needs.
I went with the IO6 module from Infotainment. Hopefully you or the installer is thin and smallish, it's a b***h getting your body under the steering wheel, and your arms and hands under the dash. Instructions although very correct and detailed, nothing like actually doing the install. I have factory navs in all my cars, some came with purchase of vehicle, some installed by me. I think I do my own installs because I'm a glutton for punishment. Good luck with your install.

What do you mean by “required to be current”? Will the maps just stop working if not updated?
Thanks

What I meant was just this. Updates don't just relate to new roads. More importantly, in my opinion, the map updates show new businesses, new points of interest, etc.. For example, I recently searched for Harbor Freight in my GM nav. Not having the most current version, the result showed that the closest HF was about 15 miles away. I knew that there was a new HF a lot closer than that. I brought up Waze and did the same search and it immediately showed the new HF. Businesses open and close frequently within a year, especially in this economy. So to the point, if you want to have the most current listing of roads AND businesses, you are "required" to update annually($$$). Not the case with Waze. If you don't update, your GM navigation won't stop functioning. You simply won't have the most current data base of roads and businesses in North America.

Consider the paper map from 1980. It isn't current and hasn't been for 40 years. If you don't update it with a new one, the information is still there and current for 1980. It doesn't stop working. You don't know what the changes to the place are. I don't like nav systems for that reason. It is updated maybe every year or so. After a while, they stop supporting it and you have your outdated map again. I prefer the AA Wireless dongle solution using Android Maps
Why would you do this?? Do you have a Smart phone?? Download a GPS app (usually no cost or very cheap 1x fee) and they work just as good or better than any Navi that comes with any manufacturer, and this will also display on the screen in your car. Navi in cars are quickly becoming a thing of the past. I use / like Sygic app. Free, no data req'd, works awesome....And as long as you have your phone with you, it'll work in any car that has Android Auto / Apple Car Play.....
I use my Android phone in my 19 Stingray. My wife's 2015 Mustang has factory nav. It is so difficult to use that she never has. In my Stingray I have a cord that I plug into the phone and the other end goes into the usb port in center console. You need the cord because the amount of data to be transferred phone to car is too large for bluetooth. I get my phone nav fully running and then plug in the cord. After maybe 10-15 seconds one of the icons on the car's screen changes to 'Android Auto' so I touch that and a few seconds later the phone nav is on the car's screen.
I have a 2015 with factory nav and I prefer to use my Iphone with Waze and I do not have Apple car play-just a pro clip phone holder.
That is what I think of the factory nav. What soured me was about 5 yrs ago I tried to enter RT. 46 and the nav would not take it. I subsequently found out that I needed to enter US highway 46 instead. Not very user friendly plus the roads have changed a bit since 2015.
