Console USBs won't connect data (Android Auto)

Console USBs won't connect data (Android Auto)
Have developed an annoying problem- I am unable to get a data connection from either of the console USB ports. This is a '17 Z06 that worked fine for the first few years.
I have seen numerous posts about dead USB ports but this is data only- Connecting will charge the phone fine (fuse is good) but no data. Yes, have swapped/replaced cables (known verified good) with no change and yes have cleaned both ports... The kicker is the phone will connect via the USB port in the cubby behind the screen, just not the ones in the console!
I can't find any wiring diagrams or data flow diagrams so unsure how to attack this; posting here hoping that others have seen the same and have a fix!

Same problem in my 17 Grand Sport. It'll connect, then drop.... then connect a little while later, and drop again. Some days it connects fine and doesn't drop. Other days, won't connect at all. I'm to the point that I plug it in, and if it connects, great, and if not I just display Waze on the phone (have a proclip) and leave it alone.
