Question
I have gone to more than a few car shows over the last 5-6 years.
Why do people bring trophies and awards from other shows and then put em on display?
Are they trying to sway the judges in their favor
Doesn't make much sense to me. If i were the judges i would be looking extra hard to gig them.
Myself i have won a lot of awards and trophies including a couple best of shows.
I see some cars with like 10 things out there . I don't have enough room in my car to bring the awards.
Maybe someone could explain why they do this?

They used to have a great show out here, sponsored by the "Redline Corvette" Club. It was an amazing Clean & Shine show of all generations of Corvettes and nice people from all walks of life. They had engine bay open and an engine bay closed class. I was campaigning a 1995 Corvette Convertible with 75,000+ miles on it in the Engine Bay Open Class. It takes a little extra effort to show a high mileage car. The last two years I went I took 1st Place in the C4 Class, both years. Then, I thought I did not want to be "That Guy", and decided to give someone else a chance and quit going.
When, I got really serious about shows, I joined the NCRS. I spent a couple of years getting the car in as original condition as possible. There were 4,600 points available, and I wanted to get the most I could. At their judging meets you are not competing against anyone else, it is all about the originality of your car.
I went to a Regional in Laughlin Nevada, in a car with between 83-84,000 miles. It was not a hot day, but, the wind was blowing all day. I detailed that car two time the day before and eight times in the day of the Judging, there was so much wind and dust blowing.
I received a score of 97.6%, without mileage, and received a "Top Flight" Award. I did it for personnel satisfaction and it was outstanding.

It also shows me that this person is very involved in the car community and probably knows their stuff. I don't see it in a negative way at all.

Oh man, the uproar and attitudes were predictable and completely uncalled for. As I chimed in, as long as all judging was consistent, what difference does it really make? I took my 93 points and never got judged again. I now go to non commital, no obligation social media meet ups were I meet many younger enthusiasts and have no regrets. Even my local club has become boringly social with only occasional cruises. And "they" wonder why car clubs are dying out...
