Default Concealed carry??

Not sure if the subject is taboo on the forum, but here we go.
The cubby behind the drop down screen is a perfect spot for concealment but kind of small for most handguns. Full-size and compact 1911’s don’t fit.
Any suggestions??
Again! Apologies to those offended by the question.
Thanks Ed

If you feel you need to carry, keep the firearm on you. Behind the screen will do you no good if you are suddenly confronted with justification to use deadly force.

Seems there is a real risk of contents in the cubby jamming the screen. I know some on here have mentioned using it as you say though. I have not checked for what fits myself. I imagien my 365 would

Rick Conti has a video of one of his techs having to disassemble an entire dashboard because some ******* got his gun jammed in that cubby. He left the safety off too.

It's not so much that this topic is taboo. It's just that it's been repeated quite a few times, and it always devolves into a bunch of partisan bickering. You'd really be better served looking up one of those old threads. You're not going to get much productive information from a new one.

Kimber Solo fits fine. I always carry on me but have a "backup" in each vehicle.

Experimented the other day. Sitting stationary inside shop. Empty gun. .38 - 5 shot snubby but with oversized Crimson Trace rubber grip. Worked fine first try. Second try after adjusting position of firearm a little it didn’t go quite so well. I was a no/go and need to abort but screen went a little too far before it stopped. Sweated bullets for a couple minutes. Finally got screen back down and revolver out. That was the last time.

sounds to me that there’s more to it than “Chuck it in the box” that needs to be considered.

I gave up on using the cubby, too many stories smart phones or other expensive items getting stuck inside that then requires dash disassembly to retrieve. Throw in the fact that some folks have had issues with the flexible screen connector cable have convinced me that the behind the screen cubby is a great idea that is lacking in execution.

My glock 19x fits right in middle..not ideal for a super quick draw but it is what it is.

I store my Glock 43 or Kahr PM40 in the cubby with no problems. It's too small for larger guns like my Glock 19 or 1911, but is perfect for smaller guns. I only wish it was lockable.

As stated previously handguns have jammed up in there. I carry on my person as opposed to leaving a handgun in a car. However have placed my Sig P938 9mm in there while driving.

I was not thinking to stow the firearm there while driving. It was for prohibited places when I cannot have on person like post office, Sheriff’s office, few other spots I frequent for a short period of time. When I drive I leave my OWB holster on and the firearm is near me secured but totally accessible. When I get to prohibited location I just stash the firearm and leave holster on. An empty holster is legal. Use Center normally but curious about behind screen. Experimented cautiously in my drive, stationary, unloaded firearm. If I needed to disassemble I would have been pi**ed but dealt with it. But there was no danger to myself or anyone else. I 65 years of firearm ownership and use I have not had a ND or “accident “ and not about to now.

Miss-direction is your friend! If you are jacked, what do you have to take off before you can leave the car? Your seat belt!

Oh, my! My shirt is caught in the seat belt, hold on bad guy, while I loosen it! Oh, my, maybe I should open the door forcibly, with my support hand and draw with the hand that just released the seat belt. Just a thought.

Check with your state, laws will very! Since the Feds kept giving their firearms to bad guys, that they left in their car, some states heave gotten more stringent about what they allow. jmho
