Would you have a dealer replace your windsheld?

I actually tried that tact, but my dealer wouldn't do the glasswork. They referred me to another local specialty shop.

The specialty shop is no stranger to Corvettes; they did a good job. I'm not sure why the dealer didn't want the work, but they did not.

I have a 2015 ZO6 that I bought used with 2000 miles on it. It had the crack/delamination issue at the top of the windshield when I bought it. I did a lot of research about it including whether I have dealers do the job or glass shop.

After running it through my insurance company I ended up going through safelite. Although they couldn't do it mobile because of the car I brought up to them and they did a fantastic job. I told them about the factory defect that was causing this and they actually found a problem on the header that took a little grinding to fix that way I won't have the problem again.

Most of the dealers I talked to were just going to have a glass company come in and do it anyway. I'm sure all the Safelite locations are dependent on
the guys and girls that work there but this one was awesome in North Carolina.

I did quite a bit of research on the type of glass and the fact that I have a heads up display. After talking with my insurance company I asked him how much for an oem piece of glass extra to come out of my pocket and they said like $80 extra I said let's do it! Rather than using aftermarket not sure it mattered though

I've had several windshields in different vehicles...Vette's included...replaced by a local indie shop that does a great job and charges much less than a dealer would.

Outside of warranty, I use high quality indie shops for everything, and have always had good luck doing this.

Dealerships farm that work out.

Most dealers will just call a local automotive glass shop just as you would. I've got a GREAT local glass company, however if I did not I'd ask for recommendations from the local Corvette club. Good Luck!

I've had work done on mine with Safelite and will go back to them if I need the whole thing replaced.

Local dealers here just use an outside shop to do glass replacement. I would just take it to a specialty shop and let them do what they do best.

I prefer an expert replace my windshields. New car dealers are not glass experts too little business unless you live in Texas where TxDot makes sure all wihdshields are broken at least once and require replacement.

My sad tale: Penske Cerritos Chebby replaced my 2017 (delaminated) Windshield under warranty in 2019, but hired an Auto Glass Shop to do the job.
The glass install was OK, but the Sub-contractor tore the weatherstripping and cracked the Passenger A Pillar Applique, which caused a leak.
3 attempts to repair and Penske/Sub threw in the towel and declined further involvement. Complaining to the Local Penske GM and to GM C/S were unfruitful.
Living in Coastal SoCal, Rain is widely intermittent, and it wasn't that big of a problem so I let it go for a while and it eventually fell out of warranty.
Finally, annoyed enough, I found J&D Corvette Shop in Bellflower, CA and they corrected the issue for about $600 - no more leak.

Caveat emptor

Nope!!!!!!

Even if they take the job, they will only just farm it out to operations like Safellite, and stick you with a middleman fee, and possibly a tow job.

I've had two (Vette) replacements done by Safelite, and both times it was flawless. I've had other car windshields replaced over the years, and those also were perfect.

My local Safelite is not able to do the C7 in my driveway, unlike my other cars, so I had to take them to the shop.
