Not sure if it is the angle of the picture but the gap between the panel and fascia looks excessive. I installed mine with the stiff paper home made template too.

Creating your own template - you’ve got nuts. Mine came with the template which I not only used but adjusted, readjusted, observed, readjusted… My C5 was stick on but was never right. Needless to say, drilling into my C7 was a challenge to my self-confidence but worked out. Glad yours did too.
