The lower air dam system is comprised of 3 pieces. 1 at each corner and there is a center piece as well. Depending on model of C7, it has either the end pieces or all 3. Grand Sport comes with the 2 end pieces from factory. I think the Z06 has all 3 but I'm not sure off the top of my head. I believe the Z51 Stingray has the end pieces also. And yes, they do direct air to the radiator and the brakes. Hope this helps.

The air dams are high speed air deflectors. THey function at racing speeds and that means over 100 MPH. They scrape pretty much everything. I took them off my '07 and I also removed them from my '14 the day I got it home from the dealer. Since I don't race the car, I don't need the noise makers. The Z51 cars do not have the center air deflector.

I took them off of my '14 Z51 and haven't missed them... keep it under 100mph.

They are for aerodynamic improvements at higher speeds. Still have them on mine and yes, they do have a tendency to scrape on a lot of things.

ALso, if you put a splitter on the front, the dams aren't hardly seen, heard, but not seen.
