Default Npp Flap

2017 Z06 I just bought. One of the flaps in the NPP muffler is missing. Is this repairable?

Like nearly anything.....with enough time and money. Without a picture, it's impossible to say what's required. Is the shaft missing? Is the actuator missing? Is the plate the actuator mounts to missing?

The flap is missing. When I look in the muffler pipe I see nothing.

the actuator on the outside is all there.

If there's nothing to attach the flap to then I'd say it's far easier and cheaper to find another muffler. Without a pic, no one but you knows if the shaft was broken off the actuator plate, if the hole was welded shut, if there's a stub to attach the flap to that's simply hard to see, etc

A picture is worth a thousand words. Help us help you. Little one liners that lack information and no pics are why people don't respond to posts. It's like a guessing game. Good luck with whatever path you decide to follow.

I 'think' you are screwed. I installed NPP mufflers on my non-NPP Stingray. I originally thought I would figure a way to actuate the flaps so looked at the flaps, the shaft, etc w/ the actuators removed. I was thinking that if I could remove the clockspring that loads them to full open that would make it easier to figure a way to move them. It looked to me like the only way to remove the spring was you can't, but maybe I could cut off the end that engages the disc on the flap shaft. Problem was that if I cut it, that would be a done deal w/ no way to remove and replace it. It seems to me these are assembled and welded in a manner that can't be undone. here is a pic of what is under the actuator.

That stinks. I’m looking in to just replacing the muffler/ mufflers.

Look for some used mufflers in your local area. There are a number of people that swap out the mufflers for aftermarket ones and then sell the stock mufflers. Prices vary but I picked up a set of nicely polished GS mufflers a while ago for $150.00. However, if you need to have the mufflers shipped shipping costs will kill the deal since they will incur special handling charges due to the shape and size. You need NPP mufflers from either a GS or a Z06. NPP mufflers from a Z51 won't work since they have an extra set of valves ahead of the mufflers.

Good luck - hope you can find a set of mufflers that are relatively close by and then get them installed on your car.

I paid $500 for my pair and don't remember shipping but it was reasonable enough from Fl to Va that I paid it.
