I have a 2019 1LT convertible. Original tires with 29,000 miles on them. Both front tires are worn down to the steel belts 2 inches on the inside edge of the
tread. Considering that the owner's manual states that at slow speeds and tight turns there will be tire chatter/hop, is that wear considered to be normal or does it indicate that the wheels are out of alignment?
First, 29K miles before the tires cord indicates an alignment issue is minor at the worst. Most people don't get anywhere near that kind of mileage before the tires cord so don't overreact. The wear you see isn't from the tire chatter noticed during low-speed tight turning angles. The cars are normally aligned with some negative camber to provide snappier handling but the increased negative camber can cause some inside tire wear. However, if toe angles are at 0 degrees the inside tire increased wear is minimal. If there is too much toe out the inside of the tire will wear faster.
You got 29k miles out Pilot Super Sports? You are right on the mileage warranty of 30k. Seems like you might want to have your alignment checked but it can't be too bad if you got that many miles out of them.

Thanks. I just had it aligned and it was only a little bit off.

You got that right. Many owners do not get anywhere near that mileage out of a set of tires.
Please take this as constructive but that tire is way beyond replacement time. You should be checking the tread on a regular basis and when they get below 4/32 its time to start shopping.
Although not anywhere near as bad, my fronts wore that way as well. That alignment spec gives you a great on-center feel, but that wear pattern is the cost. I have an appointment tomorrow to get my alignment as I just got new tires this past week. Here is my old front tire:
Yep, negative camber ruins more tires. I have said this in a few threads. If you drive somewhat aggressively, 1-1.5 deg negative camber will work for you. Basically your cornering is wearing out the outer and center of the tire while the camber wears the inside when you are driving straight. The tires wear faster overall, but they wear reasonably evenly. If you are a calm street driver, go for 1/2deg negative.
