Catchy Deck Lid
2019 GS sometimes the deck lid will not release fully to open. Releases one notch but the closer pulls it back down. Spring seems OK but seems to happen if I do not open the deck for a week or so. After 5 or so tries and releasinng it works OK for a few days then does not fully release and keeps pulling the lid back down. Anyone have this happen and what was the fix?

Try cleaning the seal that goes around the perimeter of the hatch. Make sure someone hasn't put some gooey rubber preservative or other chemical on it. The hatch may be sticking to it and it's acting like a reverse spring to pull it back down.

The spring in the latch is what pushes it up in the initial inch or so of travel. The gas struts don't come into it until it's open part way. If it didn't work this way, the hatch would pop all the way open as soon as it was released.
