No aftermarket exhaust is going to be louder with the stock catalytic converters in place. In fact, the stock exhaust is as loud or louder than any aftermarket exhaust once you remove the secondary cats in the X pipe.
Just wondering what other think about this exhaust I’m not really thrilled. Not much louder than stock. I was hoping for a bigger difference!
An x-pipe will help quite a bit. ^^ Not my experience. Had x-pipe first with NPP and then added Atak. Definitely louder/more aggressive but certainly not huge.
No experience with Borla Atak, but I had a Billy Boat cat back exhaust on non NPP base Corvette and it is much louder than stock especially going through the gears Crusing at highway speeds nice rumble, no drone. I was lucky getting it good the first time with an exhaust. Unfortunately it is a expensive gamble when you buy exhausts for any vehicle. I was also lucky with both my Harley`s getting the aftermarket exhausts pretty good the first time. I know other Harley riders who have several sets of exhausts collecting dust in their basements!
When I installed my Corsa Xtreme axle-back system, I also installed their Double Helixx "secondary cat delete" x-pipe. I hear the exhaust rumble ALL the time in 1st through 5th gears.. When I get on the gas hard, it gets very loud. It basically sounds like the stock exhaust on steroids. Cruising on the highway in 6th or 7th gear, it's virtually silent.
I would try installing a different x-pipe first; and see if that helps. If not, you should try another manufacturer. However, my understanding is that you'll get a lot of burbles & pops on deceleration (with a manual transmission) with the Borla x-pipe. I don't get any of that with the Double Helixx x-pipe.
I have the borla atak and also AMERICAN racing long tube headers w high flow cats. I was also hoping it would be much louder. It’s louder but I expected a lot louder.
So put your stock one back on. I have the S which is a step down from the ATAK. I also have an X pipe …third C7 …. No way in hell what I have is not louder with a more disciplined tone and some melodic back pressure …..

long tubes and xpipe with the atak... call it a day
I’ve read that only certain xpipe will work with long tube headers. Most won’t and you have to buy short headers. Unless u get long tubes like American racing w their xpipe
