Is it still possible to request a GMVIS report from dealers? My selling dealer is being cagey about it, so I just want to confirm there's no major concerns on a car I'm looking at.
Sales, who swears up one side and down the other that their service can't give it out for privacy reasons. I was going to swing by another Chevy dealer tonight and try to see if they will kindly pull it for me, but the original dealer seemed to imply it's not allowed any longer.
I know when I called my local dealer with the vin before I bought mine, I’m guessing there would have been the current owner data on it so I couldn’t get a hard copy.
But the service manager did tell me what was on it as far as records and dates.
Since I am now the owner I will ask again and see if I can get a copy.

When I bought my car, I asked my dealer if they could run me a history report on the car. They did it without any questions and the report did not show any personal info. Might just want to try a different dealer.
As a followup, I did manage to obtain a copy of the VIS, through a forum sponsor/vendor (found via searching!) and it's clean. Still no idea why the dealer was giving me a hard time for it, but in the end, it worked out.
