Default Temp Gauge Drop

On three occasions I've had the temp gauge drop to the bottom of the range, the A/C shut off, and rev match disconnect on my 2014. When I park the car the radiator fan continues to run. I've checked and the oil temperature remains below the middle of the gauge range. Upon restart, as soon as 15 minutes after the occurrence, all returns to normal, all gauges normal, all systems operate as designed. 40,000 miles on the car, no mods, has happened twice on highway drives and once on a grocery store run. Any ideas of the cause and a fix?

It has to do with the thermostat and coolant temp sensor. This happened to me also. Everything is good now after installing the sensor and thermostat. Best place to buy the OEM parts is from Rock Auto.

Happened to me also. AC Delco theromostat is like $86 at Rock Auto compared to $181 at dealer.
