I recently bought a c7 stingray z51. I'm planning to do a full zr1 conversion on it (except the lt5). What would I need to do for the front fenders and bumper to fit the stock body. The rear fenders are pretty simple. Any yes before anyone asks me why do this when you can buy a zr1? Apparently where I live we cannot import a zr1 anymore 😮💨
Can’t help you with what you are wanting to do, but hope you will document and post the results here on the forum. Should be an interesting project.
Appreciate the words yes hopefully if everything goes according to plan. This will be the first converted zr1 according to my knowledge. Hope someone over here can help me with it
Well I will be swapping the lt5 after everything goes according to plan so yeah
You are, how do you plan on swapping the engine harness and ECM along with all of the port injection system along with getting it all programmed? GM isnt going to assist with programming a LT5 ECM into a Corvette that never came with the LT5.
Have you considered purchasing a ZR1 vs the cost of converting a Stingray? Not trying to deter you from what sounds like an ambitious build. Not sure an LT5 swap has been done before.

Well let me elaborate. I live in Pakistan and the stingray I purchased has cost me 200k USD. That's because the taxes are really high and if I were to import a zr1 it would cost me around 7-800k. I don't see the point of throwing that much money on a vette lol. So this project that I'm trying to do makes a lot of sense for me. Let's say 60-70k Vs 800k there's a massive difference 😛

That's something I'll try to make it happen after I get the body work and the rest of the things done. If it doesn't work out the plan is to throw a 416 so let's see

In order to make the fenders and quarter panels fit, you’ll have to rip the apertures (rockers) off and replace them with the OE widebody version. It quite an ordeal. I used a combination of cutting wheel, multipurpose oscillating tool and a heat gun to remove the old one.

Wow that's exactly what I was looking for. Seems like a lengthy process but it's doable. Is your car finished ? Thanks again now I'm more motivated to do this 😊

Yes. It’s finished. I’d be happy help where I can.
remember its not just the body panels and motor that make the car a zr1. its ccb brakes calipers, suspension upgrades and brake ductwork cooling upgrades and many more things that you DONT see. making a wide body vote has been done for decades. making one that actually performs and looks oem is a task on a another level. as a reference I did a porsche gt2 front end on a 996 turbo when I had one. the bumper cover was 2500$. not a big deal. the ductwork radiators and lines that make the gt2 bumper work was another 4500! and that didn't include paint and body work
