I want to do an oil change and after reviewing GM saying they recommend 0-40 mobile1 I went to Wal Mart and they had 0-40 for European car use. Is 0-40 full synthetic that much different or only hype. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks

Mobil confused the market with these two oils.
The correct C7 oil is the "ESP" (Emission System Protection) version that has a small Dexos 2 logo on the lower left of the label. The European version is not Dexos 2 approved but has a NASCAR logo for some reason.
To confuse the issue further, Mobil recently introduced their "Supercar" 0W-40 to replace the current Dexos 2 version. That oil is confusingly said to be a renaming or a new formulation that is incompatible with the D2 version...
Search the forum for more info. Lots of threads on the topic.

I agree - Mobil 1 sure has confused things with all their variations on what oil to use.

Mobil 1 renamed ESP Formula to "Supercar" to end the confusion. Before long the ESP label will disappear and only Supercar will be available. If your Corvette is a 2019 you should use Mobil 1 0W-40 ESP Dexos2 or 0W-40 Supercar Dexos2. If your Corvette is a `14 - `18 you can use 0W-40 or 5W-30.
Do Not use 0W-40 European Formula.
