Funny since my Camaro is built to 800hp so it's actually faster then my Z06.
Since we are trying to be politically correct I think your Camaro is actually a Transracecar camaro? not a Camaro? Your Z06 is not a Corvette it is a Z06 Corvette. If the Z06 is modified to 800hp then it might be a TransZ06 Corvette??
Sorry just trying to compare apples and apples. Not Apples and transapples
I've owned a C7 Z06/Z07, '18 SS 1LE, and a C7 convertible and have taken them all to the track. Not surprisingly the Corvettes were faster in pure acceleration but the SS 1LE was a WAY better on tight tracks, especially autocross. This was because the base suspension was way too soft (terrible for autocross, great on the street). The Z07 just had too much power which got better as the tires got warmer but still had to fight tire spin. On the street it looked great but always wanted to break the tires loose .. at nearly any speed. Also the Stage 2 carbon fiber splitter was awful on the street and not cheap to replace. The 1LE is an incredible car on and off the track but no, it's not a four-seater unless your children can remove their legs while travelling. We'd have it still but my wife traded it in for a 2020 911S …because it was painted Miami Blue.
The ZL1 has the 10-speed auto. It stays in the power band better. It just might beat the Z06.
It won't. I had a 10 speed ZL1 before my Z06, and raced it quite a bit. The Z06 will edge it out everytime. A 10 speed is close to a manual Z06 from my experience in acceleration.
I had an SS 1LE that was likewise a little slower than my Z51. I traded it for a ZL1 1LE and that was faster than my Z51 and slower (slightly) that the Z06.
Traded the ZLE for the Grand Sport and like the gearing and general build quality so much better that I prefer it to the extra snot of the ZLE (all manuals).
They are all awesome cars. The 6th Gen Camaro is an amazing car for the money in LT1/LT4 trim. The vette is far better built and more nimble but less planted. Camaro steering is second to none.
Even typing this I am swaying back and forth like I did between my C7, SS1LE, C7Z51, ZL11LE, C7GS.

I had a ZL1 Camaro prior to my C7 Z06. In my experience, the cars were almost identical in acceleration up to about 100. I think the 10 speed in the Camaro made up for the lighter weight of the Z06. At the Texas Mile, the ZL1 beat the Z06's in top speed as the more aggressive spoilers on the Z06 took its toll near top speeds. Typically, the ZL1 was 8-10 mph faster at top. But some of my friends removed the more aggressive spoilers on their Z06's at the Mile, and then they beat me! The Z06 is more aerodynamic when it's spoilers are removed.
Both cars are really nice and the performance between the two is negligible in my experience.

But the C7 looks much better with the spoilers, so I will keep the level 3 aero package on my 2017 Z06 for just that reason.
