Default C7 production?

Can anyone provide more details on the reason Corvette production was halted half-way through the 2018 production year? I read something about an upgrade to the paint and finish line, but never any more details.

It was halted in late July for the new paint facility and the addition of the ZR1 assembly line.

Not according to the Corvette Museum:

In what was one of the shortest model years, a total of 9,686 Corvettes were produced. Production started June 5, 2017 and ends January 28, 2018. The plant was down for three months, making the 2018 model year approximately 5 months.

My comment should have been more clear. It was halted but did resume after the facilities were updated.

Default 2018 production!

Must have been a very expensive upgrade to the paint shop! I wonder how much this lack of production actually cost GM?? I'm not sad though! That makes my 2018 GS a little more rare, doesn't it? (Although I am sure this makes zero difference in future value, it has proven to be a good conversation starter with a new fellow Corvette enthusiast!)
Is the finish of a 2019 better than from the old paint shop, before 2019?

There were 6469 cars painted in the old shop.

2486 stingray, 2025 GS, for a total of 4511 and 1958 ZO6.

ZO6 has its own serial # run.

Paint finish was better in the new shop, but it should have been after spending over 400 million.

I applied three coats of ceramic to my 2018 GS but even before that, I couldn't tell any difference between it and the 2019's in our Corvette Club. (I am only comparing white cars however, and it's probably harder to see difference verses other colors?)

Is your serial # below 4511, or higher ?

My 18 ZO6 was # 1957.

It was painted in the old shop but not assembled until the factory reopened,,,good thing they didn't loose any body parts during the shutdown.

The paint on it wasn't bad , but not as good as my 19 GS.
