So this has happened a few times I go to use the remote and it will not open the door. I will not work at all. I grab the other remote and same thing.
The car is 2017 I do not drive it that often but to me the remote should last longer then what it is. So then I open up the remote and check the battery and it is always ok 3.0V. I put in a new battery anyway but so what is going on here. The one remote I took the battery out and checked it and put it back in and then it worked ok??? Is it the remote or the sensor in the car? Next oil change I will have the garage check things out. Anyone with the same problem on a 2017?
Thanks
Had similar issue and mine went away after replacing the battery. Went ahead and did it in both. I also swap remotes from each time I change the battery. I use Duracell.

Thanks for all the info. Like you say testing the battery its 3.0 and up but putting in a fresh battery does work. The only thing about that just taking out the previous battery and then replacing it after checking the Voltage it will work also, so I guess that is why I'm questioning it and maybe that is why I got a response from Customer Care that I am following up with.

just a guess that the contacts were dirty and taking in and out improved the contact
Just an update on the key fob. I have not been able to get to the chevy dealer until this Friday and it's a different issue since someone rear ended my Silverado last week. I will take the fob's in and see what they think. So last week I went to get into the car and yep, no car open with the fob not working. I had 2 new batteries in both of the fobs. They are new and tested batteries each time. They are above 3.0. They are fresh batteries. I could understand 1 fob but not both.
I did read that on the Duracell batteries which I have used before that since they put the scent on those so kids don't eat them, that they do not work in several electronic items???? I have Eveready batteries in and still the same problem. I hope to get an answer this Friday which I will share with all.
Thanks again for your suggestions which have been tried and no difference.
Your lucky , I'm not saying that is the problem for my fob but still a mystery why they fade so quickly or it's not a battery issue at all. I will find out more tomorrow. Thanks for your info.

I have had that same problem. Parts dept. at dealer told me batteries last month's not years in corvettes. It takes a fully charged battery, 3v won't do it.
noticed since I dont drive the car everyday if I connect the battery tender when it's parked for days the key fob battery works longer.
Owning a convertible, I found out the first symptom of the remote battery dying, was when I was dropping the top with the remote. It would go about half way down, then stop and I would have to hit the button again, to get it to go the rest of the way down. I thought I was just not holding the button down. After a while of it operating this way the battery was dead.

Having to hold the FOB button during top dropping always seemed like a battery killer to me. The button on the dash just has a bigger battery that gets recharged by the alternator. I went out and purchased "Smarttop" and now a 3-5 second push of the unlock button lowers both windows and sends the top all the way down . After stuff starts to move, you release the FOB button and the windows and top go down. Now, the cool part... Press the lock button for 3-5 seconds, the top starts UP and you release the FOB button and the top continues all the way up AND the windows close. I think something changed in 2018 and the smarttop is not offered for 18 or 19. Additionally, the dash button? Well you just tap the bottom of the button and the windows go down and so does the top. You don't have to hold the button for the entire process. Ditto for raising the top with the dash button, just tap the top half of the button and the top comes up and the windows close without having to hold the button.
Ok I finally got the key fobs back from the Chevy dealer. When he first tested them the batteries were being drained to 80% right away. These were brand new good batteries. A few days later he stated he cleaned all the contacts and now the battery is staying at 100%. I am to try them out the next few months and see what happens.
Not sure how the inside of them got contaminated or dirty but they did or so we think. Not sure I follow that the car is on a battery tender and the key fobs work better?
I will update as time goes by or until a problem creeps up again.
Thanks,

Is the battery in your `17 the original battery? If so it could be the problem. These cars do some odd things when the battery becomes weak. Your fobs working after the car has been on a tender tells me the problem is the car battery, not the fobs.
