Default Difference in mileage

I left Eureka Springs (for the Corvette weekend) this morning, and essentially drove home non-stop, about 640 miles roughly the same speed all the way home (70-75 mph). I only stopped for McDonalds and gas one time. According to the normal reset odometer, I averaged about 26.5 mpg. I then checked the average mpg for the past 25 miles, and I was averaging just about 30 mpg. I can't figure out the difference.

Wind, grade, variable speeds in traffic, WOT run? Hard to say.

Nothing to be terribly concerned over. Car-reported mileage is almost always on the wildly optimistic side, and the C7 is no exception. The only vehicles I've had be accurate in this regard are those that I could adjust the calibration on.

26.5 seems right in line with the public fillup data through Fuelly, as you're on the high end of the bell curve. Makes sense for all freeway!

Coincidentally, this real world data matches nicely with the EPA estimate of 16/19/25.

I agree - there are a lot of different conditions that could affect your MPG reading. Plus a reading over the last 25 miles is seldom reflective of the average over a much greater distance - in this case 640 miles.

The efficiency and power of these cars is amazing. Even more impressive is Vettman's number of posts....wow!
