Default engine clatter

I have a 2014 C7 Corvette That has a that i will call a clattering noise when the engine wants to go from v4 mode to v8 mode. it is most noticeable when driving at local highway speeds,. when at interstate highway speeds 65 to 85 mph it happens much faster so almost is not noticeable. when in manual mode of course it is locked into v8 mode so no problem. Has anyone else out there experienced this problem?
my dealer hasn't been any help yet, said they have not any issues like this yet..

I had the same issue. Bought a Range device to stay in V8 and haven’t had issues since. I’m not sure if there’s a diagnosed reason for it occurring but it didn’t seem to cause any issues aside from the noise and making me concerned.

It might be the belt tensioner that so many of us have had to replace. Someone once described the noise as sounding like a big rattlesnake. Do a search on here for belt tensioner and you will be up late reading about it.

Here is a TSB from GM about it.

Default Lifter issue

It might be a lifter issue. Has to do with the AFM system when the car goes from 4v to 8v. Lifter is oil starved, and causes clatter at start up.
