Traded my C6 for a beautiful C7 in another state. Over the phone deal with Chevy dealer. Cheap seats in my C6 was my only complaint. Marketing BS states how improved the C7 seat is. No way! It's so narrow it is killing my butt and upper back. Any suggestions?

I've got the regular seats in my 14 C7. I actually really like them. Far more comfortable than the Recaro's in my Subaru STi's ever were. I've got a buddy of mine who's really hard to please with car seats...you kind of remind me of him. (That's just an observation, not a slam). He has spent thousands over the years modifying his seats and trying this and that extra cushion. I think he has finally found a local car interior shop that he likes and pays them to rebuild his seats to suit his tastes. You might try that route. It's kind of hard to really know what modifications you really want until your butt dyno lives with it for 6 months though.
Not sure what seat you have, but I do remember GM stating when the Competition Sports seats were released, they recommended that if you did not plan to track the car do not order the seats. I have a 2015 with these seats and I have no problem with them, but I can see where they may be an issue for some people. I am slim so there for I fit right in the seat even with it bolsters inflated.
I feel your pain. I had a C6 for 13 years and had no problem with the seats. I moved up to a C7 and love everything about it. EXCEPT THE SEATS!
This is a common compliant for new C7 owners. My solution was to make a cushion to fill the deep part of the seat.(narrow and thicker in the back and wider and flat in front.)It relieves the pain in the left thigh and the stress on your lower back.
One problem that many C7 owners have is the left seat base bolster kills their left leg. The fix is to bend the steel support that holds that bolster in place. This moves it out and a little down so it isn't jamming the underside of your thigh. Search for threads describing how to do it. If you want to do some diy fixes find the thread on how to do the conversion to the comp seat back. The initial part of the thread describes how to remove the plastic seat back surround and loosen the leather cover. Once that is done so you have access, you could add a bit of foam for more lower back support or trim some foam out. I trimmed the foam that is in the shoulder wings down to maybe 1/2 thickness. This lets my shoulders sit further back which helps a little because the stock foam in the lower back area then feels a little thicker. My shoulders also sink into the seat a little more which makes the wings, at their very end, feel like they keep me from moving sideways in a turn.

Same here! I drove my C6 back from the NCM to the left coast without a thought about the seats.
The C7 is fine for two or three hours, but, after that, not so much. We ordered memory foam seats and that seemed to solve the problem.
My experience was that the C6 seats were very comfortable for touring but too limber for the track. The C7 seats rock on the track but can be a bit too intense for long trips.

It is tough to make a seat that is comfortable to everyone. My C7 seats feel much better to me than the seats in the C5s I owned. As stated above, there have been a number of posts on the comfort of the seats and attempts at making them fit better. Try a search and see what comes up.
The Comp Seats in my 2015 are far better for general and track use than the seats in either of my two C5s or the C6Z. Although the C6Z seats got better after I added an aftermarket seat repair kit that prevented the seat bottom foam from sliding down into the base of the seat frame. Adding Jute under the foam helped a lot to stiffen the seat bottom but the seat still couldn't hold me in place on the track.
The C7 Comp seat holds the upper body in place but is a little shallow around the legs so I add a firm foam pad to the door to keep my legs in place. That makes the seat start to approach a race seat in holding me in the seat. This last summer I took the car on a 1400-mile round trip and the seat was comfy and didn't bother me a bit. In the 7 years, I have owned the car I have gained about 25 lbs and the seat still fits me.
For those of you who have made seat cushions that sit on top of the seat, and those who have modified the actual seat itself, would you be so kind as to post some pics of your innovations please??
I was really pleased with my C7 base seats when I picked it up at Kerbeck's and drove 1600 miles home. No complaints then, or 5-years later, but I'm 6' tall and 145-pounds. C7 seats can be a great incentive to lose weight.
may need some time to adjust to it perhaps?
i felt my stock gt seats offered great support and feel i converted my drivers seat back top to the comp and it offered me even more support and i love the look as well. it did make it more tight fitting but to me i like that feeling.
overall the best seat ive had in a car so far.
im 5'10 170 and so like mentioned some modifications may need to be had for a more custom support which can be done without much fuss.
