Default Sideview Blind Spot

Does anyone use those little round stick-on mirrors that help with the blind spot on these cars? If so, are there one that would be recommend or are they all basically the same?

While I'm not too crazy about most mods, one of the best mods I have done, no one can even tell. Sandyeggo.com sells a custom fit convex mirror that fits exactly over the driver side mirror. It completely eliminates the side view blind spot and looks great.

Might have your mirrors too tight. If you can see the edge of your car in the mirrors, they are too tight.

Just a thought...

Elmer is correct. Adjust your mirrors.

eboggs_jkvl makes a good point - mirror adjustment can make a huge difference in blind spot viewing. That said, a while back there were threads about the add on mirrors to help with the blind spot - a search should turn up some hits.

I agree with Elmer and Woodson. Try adjusting the side mirrors correctly. You should not see the side of your ride if you point them outwardly appropriately. They are side view mirrors not rear view mirrors.

+1 for adjust your mirrors.

Lean to the right in your seat. Your head should be somewhere near the center of the car. Adjust the passenger mirror so you are just BARELY able to see the side of your car. Your passenger mirror is now correctly adjusted.
Mash your face against the driver window. Adjust the driver mirror so you can see the side of your car on no more than 1/8th of the mirror. Your driver mirror is now correctly adjusted.

The followup is to get used to physically moving around in your vehicle in order to see everything -- which is, by the way, the expectation and what they teach in DE.

The mentality here is that you should not see the same information across different mirrors. They each have a very specific purpose.

Yeah, the mirrors can be adjusted. But I got these too and they’re Amazing. I feel like I can see everything around me.

Hi...yes put them on my 2019 the day I got it...have used these for decades on all our vehicles. Like the extra blind spot view that they provide. Simple and inexpensive...stick on with double sided tape so you can remove them if you change your mind, without any ill effects.

I buy them at Canadian Tire up here...but I'm sure they're available in many auto shops.

I'm sorry but

They just aren't needed. I can see in the picture that the stock mirror is likely angled too much toward the driver, which is what is giving you the blind spot.

I'm with you on this one. Turns out most of the naysayers are people who have never tried them. I was a doubter at first. After a close call I got the Sandyeggo set. I had my boy walk around the car and I could not find as blind spot. The only problem is out of habit I still crank my head to the side needlessly before changing lanes.

I could never get the side view mirrors adjusted properly on my 16.
These worked great and are the best mod I have done.

Never had a problem with side view mirrors in any other generation Corvette I have owned, C3, C4, C5 and 3 C6s.

These are what I put on my C7. They are the exact size of the OEM mirrors, so no one even knows they are there, and they work great. I have had mine on since June of 2021 and they have never come loose.

Turns out most of the naysayers haven’t tried them because we don’t need them because our mirrors are adjusted correctly. Which is what makes us naysayers.

The sandieggo mirrors are fantastic. with or without them this is how I adjust mirrors. I go to a parking lot where I can park with a couple of empty rows of cars behind me and then a full row. Or where the border of the lot has a bunch of shrubs or similar. I set my center mirror centered looking through the rear hatch glass. Then I find something that stands out (car, shrub, sign post) at the left edge of the center mirror view. Now I move my driver side mirror so that object is just barely at the edge of it's view. I do the same for the right side. Now I am sure that I can see anything that is between the outer edges of the side mirror views. Also, don't have your side mirrors adjusted very high. You don't need to see a lot of sky and if you adjust them a bit lower than may be normal, you pick up a little bit more view of something on the road (or a kid in a parking lot) nearer to the car.

The problem with the Sandieggo mirrors is they restrict the mirror heaters in cold or rainy weather and they prevent the driver's side mirror from dimming when vehicles with bright lights are behind you.

Adjusting properly works very well and you still have the heating and dimming functions.

Paragon has replacement mirrors with the convex built in and they are replacements, not stick ons. I have the blue hue version which helps and do not need the dimming feature with the blue hue.

I did this about a year ago. It works great. Took a bit getting used to not seeing the side of the car. Just have to trust it.

I did the mirror adjustment that was outlined here where you adjust the mirrors, so you don't see the side of the car or at lease almost none. It seemed to work for me. I have watched other cars come up on me and I see them in the mirror right up to when their nose is in right near my door and also as I pass them, I watch to see when I see them in the mirror compared to when I don't see them alongside without the mirror.

+1 on the mirror adjustment. The SAE did a report on the procedure:
"The paper advocates adjusting the mirrors so far outward that the viewing angle of the side mirrors just overlaps that of the cabin’s rearview mirror. This can be disorienting for drivers used to seeing the flanks of their own car in the side mirrors. But when correctly positioned, the mirrors negate a car’s blind spots."
Because the RH mirror makes traffic appear farther away than it is, before changing lanes in traffic, I change lanes to the right only after I can see the grille of the car in the right lane in the center mirror.
The mirror adjustments and center mirror view habit provide great surrounding traffic awareness.
