Default Wheel question

Hey all
I have a stock 2017 stingray.
it’s time for tires and I was wondering how much wider are the Z51 tire and wheel compared to stock ? I don’t need the actual tire size … I need roughly what the eye would see (example 2 inches) . The other question is would grandsport wheels be a direct fit ? I’ve been told yes and no. I’m not interested in aftermarket rims , I would like the oem.

I love the big footprint.

House of wheels talked about a wider 18inch setup front and rear. I don’t know anyone that has tan them.

The OEM Grand Sport will fit on the hubs but they are too wide for the car and the rears will rub.

The Z51 wheels are the same width as the base car but are 19/20 instead of 18/19.

The Z51 rims/tires are the exact same width as the base Stingray. As noted above, the GS rim will mount just fine. However they are wider and will protrude out from the side of the car and can rub. They will also look terrible. There are some pics out there if you search.

They are saying you can't go wider without rubbing the fenders. If you want wider, you'd have to go to a wide body setup, or trade for a GS.

The GS rears might be too wide on rear, but what about the GS fronts on the rear? I have a set of OEM fronts available.

I kept my Z51 rims and went with 255 up front and 295 rear. Fits fine and fills the wheel well much better. Some have tried to stretch it and go with 265/305 with mixed results. Also, some tire manufacturers run wider or narrower than others. I have seen 305 Nitto's on the stock rims and don't look too stretched. I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport 295 and fit fine on the rim and slightly wider.

I went with 255 up front and 295 in the rear. I believe some have done 265 up front and 305 out back, but have had mixed reviews on rubbing.

And you don't want GS OEM rims... too many cracked rims.

The footprint surface area will be the same, irrespective of width, but directional traction will change. Don't sacrifice performance for appearance without understanding the consequences.

I have 9" front and 11" wide rear wheels with the stock Z51 tires on my 2016 Z51.
Don't look too bad.
