Do c7s automatically shut down if I am out of car with key on me?
I ask cause I am flushing coolant and monitoring the coolant tank with cap off and car shut down approx 20 min after starting twice
On our 2017 2LT Z51 A8, I started the car while seated in it and then began the map update. Left the car while it was updating and came back about 35 minutes later, engine still running and update just finishing.

I tried looking in my Owner's Manual and did not run across anything that would address this issue - I could have missed it though. I do know that I left my car running for approximately 60 minutes (just idling) while doing a NAV map update and it did not shut down the entire time.

Did the same with my '19 GS and while I was vacuuming the garage, it shut off after about 30 minutes and the update was at about 46% complete. Started it back up and stayed in the car and the update continued where it left off and completed after about a total of 40 minutes.

I'm not sure, but think I left the fob in the car during the update.
Did you have your fob with you instead of in the car?
Grasping at straws here...
I have had mine shutdown once when I was doing the Navigation update. I had it running in the garage. I went into the house and when I came back to check the progress of the update about 20 minutes later it was turned off. Now that was with my 2019 Z06. In the past on my 2016 Stingray I used the same procedure and it never turned off. It ran all 50 minutes or so. I had the FOB with me out of the car in both instances.
This feature is in the owners manual under "Extended Parking"
Not all model years have the same time limits. This is for a 2017 model.
Extended Parking
It is better not to park with the vehicle running. If the vehicle is left while running, follow the proper steps to be sure the vehicle will not move and there is adequate ventilation. See Shifting Into Park pg 186 and Engine Exhaust pg 188. If the vehicle is left in P (Park) while running and the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter is outside the vehicle, the vehicle will turn off after one hour. If the vehicle is left in P (Park) while running and the RKE transmitter is inside, the vehicle will run for two hours. At the end of the second hour, the vehicle will turn off. The timer will reset if the vehicle is taken out of P (Park) while it is running
