New to the forum and in the market for a C7. I found one and put a deposit on a 2014 Z51 3LT 7speed convt and on the side of the car it has a badge that says Racing Edition. Is this just a badge or is there more in this car then the 3LT and or should I stay away from it because its might have spent it's life on the track. Is a one owner car and drivers nice has Pilot Super Sport ZR tires on it that need changing. What tires do you like for everyday summer driving.
I agree that's likely just a badge the previous owner slapped on there. If you're looking for summer only tires, you can't go wrong with the factory Michelin PSS. If you want all season, your top choices are probably going to be Continental Extreme Contact or Michelin Pilot Sport AS4.
Also, make sure the car is actually a Z51. I just read the thread today that the new owner thought he was buying a Z51 from a dealer but it actually wasn't.

I did a vin check and it comes up as a Z51 3LT Convertible. Thanks.
Not a GM badge or a special edition. I would change the chrome badges and rear letters to the Carbon Flash. I have a 2015 I just recently purchased and with it it being a 3LT with the NPP and the Competition Sports Seats and the ZF1 option, they did not go with the carbon flash badges for $100 extra.
A VautoZone badge from the "chrome" isle, lol. Or now-a-days, an amazon badge. Just something the previous owner slapped on there... Not a real package.
Like others said, that is not an OEM badge. If you like the Mich pilot supersports that came with the car then I would replace with those. I did and like the piece of mind of having runflats.
As it is a convertible, I doubt it did any serious track time unless there is a roll bar installed or evidence one was previously installed. Good looking car and I would remove all the fender badges
I'm only recently gathering this, but is there a contingent of owners that remove the Stingray from the fender? I don't think I've picked up on this, but will be paying closer attention going forward.

I am not aware of any, but I am sure there are some. I have no problem with them, after all GM trademarked the Stingray. I do however plan to remove mine, but install the carbon flash version.

Its just personal preference. I always thought it looks more like a guitar so I removed mine.
Car looks really cool.. if you like the stuff keep it on there, if your worried Corvette purists will roll their eyes on GS hash marks and race edition then pop them off of there then it's really up to you. I personally would stick with Michelin Run Flats
Good looking car and what we all say or judge are just opinions. Your car, your tastes. She sure is pretty either way! Drive her with pride.
BTW, my 2 cents... lose the badge(s) and black out the chrome strip on the grill.
Like others stated, its your car, do what you think looks good! As long as you love it, thats all that matters. I'm not here to make sure everyone else loves my car except for me.
For mine, I replaced my Stingray emblems on mine with black ones. To match the rest of the car with White and Black. Those were the only two chrome items and stood out like a sore thumb, lol. I also swapped out the rear tail lights with the Morimoto XB Smoked and LOVE THEM. Perfect fit, looks amazing on the car. I also replaced the side marker lights with blacked out string LED from Amazon. Lots of people experience TPMS blackouts due to LED's causing EMI/Radio interference, I haven't had this issue thankfully, because it looks amazing with lights going all the way down the reflector and not just two little lights in it and black to match the rest of the trim. Also got blacked out RED LED's to replace the rear bumper reflectors (non-lights) with ones that light up. While the bumper was off, I got waterproof 12v LED's and lined the inside vents and cut outs of the rear bumper with the LED's and wired up to running lights, and with the new bumper lights, those will be wired into brakes lights. Just trying to make sure the car stands out as its so low and people dont pay attention.
