I have noticed that my driver's side parking camera (one of the two on the front grille) has a cracked lens and therefore transmits a foggy and unusable picture. How hard is it to replace that camera? I looked on YouTube but couldn't find anything. Does the whole front bumper need to come off?
Well shoot. I was hoping it'd be quick and easy. Since the body shop is going to have to replace the front bumper anyway, I guess I'll just buy the camera and have them install it as they put the new bumper on. Or maybe, since the bumper is going to get replaced anyway, I have nothing to lose by taking it off myself. Except I run the risk of not being able to properly seat an already broken bumper when I put it back on. Hmmm...
Before removing the bumper, I suggest obtaining the replacement camera.
The always-helpful and usually sharp parts guy at our dealership couldn't find the cameras as separate items, would've had to buy a complete grill with cameras. He wasn't trying to gouge me, he suggested that I find a way to glue mine in place (broken mounting) instead of replacing. 3M mounting tape has held mine in place for 2 years with no problems, though that's not what the OP needs.
