Default Drivers side mirror ripped off

My 2017 Vette is my third one. There are apparently Corvette haters out there. My 02 and 07 were keyed down both sides. The 17 has the side mirror broken off. Any idea of cost to replace it and if it should be done at the dealer or collision center? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Try and buy from a salvage dealer. Trim shop can install. Body shop can do it and paint also. Shop for a new one online.

for future reference, nothing needs to be done at the dealer if you're out of warranty.

Where were you parked when these things happened? That's awful.

I agree that non-warranty work can be done anywhere, but there are some dealers that have a good body shop so they are worth at least a quote on doing the repair work. And sorry to hear about the damage to your car - sad that there are morons out there that do not respect other people’s property.

I think the decision on repair location depends on the damage. Did they rip "just" the mirror body off the mounting post or did they rip the entire mirror assembly off the door? If the former, pretty much any decent shop can repair it. If the latter, there is the possibility of other damage to the door skin and structure that likely means you need to go to a decent autobody shop.

Pics with these types of questions are always helpful

I had the exact same thing happen to mine. Someone must have yanked it upward, and it snapped the joint on the inside mechanism. Had to tape it together until it was repaired at a body shop. I went through insurance and used a dealer body shop. New one got painted to match.

WOW fogey0, sorry to hear about the awful things that people do to others property in parking lots. Unfortunately we have a group of morons in our society that have now raised another generation of young morons. The garage queen Corvette is not always about keeping it safe from road hazards and idiot drivers.

Knock on wood, haven't had to do that on my C7 so far, but did 3x on my C5...twice my fault backing out of the garage, once my wife's. But yes each time found a good used one, and had our local indie body shop paint & install it...total cost was about half of getting a new one.

Don't know. Seen a car drive through a row of cars on one side and the guy with a bat trying to hit the mirrors eons ago.

I would find someone who has done that job before as I have seen body shops pull and tug at something and I hear a "SNAP" and something goes flying. That probably isn't good.

Where can you park then? I go into any building and I can't see my cars or truck or trike. I'd never be able to park anything. Or I pay for insurance and let it be their problem. The deductible is a small price to pay for no worries.
