I have a 2019 Stingray and today I was idling and I believe after about 15 minutes the car shut off by itself. I was outside of the car with the fob in my pocket but I do this all the time and it has never shut off on me in almost four years.
I went to restart the car and would not (dead) until I put the fob in the slot and it started up right away.
I just found this in the manual so can't be the fob as it was less than half an hour:
"If the vehicle is left parked and
running with the Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) transmitter outside the
vehicle, it will continue to run for up
to half an hour."

Electronics are funny sometimes but having said that my C7 does shut off after idling for awhile and I don't think it takes half an hour.
Thanks for all the replies, just as a test I went to see if it will start up and indeed it did (without putting the fob in the slot) and behaved absolutely normal.
Mine shuts off anywhere from 20-30 minutes. Completely normal. The first time it did it I was alarmed, until I realized what was going on after reading up on it. 2019 also.
That is a good feature for these cars with remote start.
Funny story. I went on a cruise with a few other families and when we returned, my buddy’s car wouldn’t start. It was out of gas. He started losing his mind and yelling about “some dirtbag stole my gas.” It was NJ so he was even more convinced and accusatory. This went on for 15 minutes until a lot attendant finally told him he left the car on and it ran for probably 1-2 day. “Happens 10 times a week here” We still laugh about about his “stolen gas.” So if our Vettes shut off automatically, good. I’m that dumb too.
If your car has the Remote Start feature and you do a remote start, the car will shut down after 10 minutes.
You can extend the run time before shutdown, once, if you hit the lock and remote start while it's still running.
I don't care what the Manual says, it can be the FOB battery. I've found it takes very little voltage drop for it to "malfunction"... at least with mine. I always test replacement batteries to get the highest voltage possible. All the best.

I don't see how a dead fob battery would cause the engine to shut down. Not start, yes. Shut down while running, no.
Engine shutdown from a dead fob battery would be dangerous- car dies in traffic, manual-only steering, limited power brakes, etc.
I've gotten out of our C7, taking the fob with me, many times with no problem. Gone far enough into the house that there would be no fob communication, but engine kept running. Drove it around the block a couple of times with the fob left at home, no problems. I had the fob battery die in my pocket a couple of times, but engine kept running.

Please, do tell how an idling, manual transmission C7 will shut itself down due to a malfunctioning keyfob.
