Repro wheel durability
I was under my 17 GS taking care of some winter maintenance and noticed the dreaded crack in one of the rear wheels.
So my question is are the reproduction wheels any stronger?
I was thinking about picking up a set of rears.
Thanks

I have a set of flow formed replica wheels from OE, which have been great so far. Technically, flow formed wheels are a step above cast factory wheels and in theory should be lighter as well as stronger.

Have a rear Z06 Factory Reproductions rear wheel on for 2.5 years. No cracks and it has taken a few hard unavoidable hits.
I bought it from Tire Rack but if I have to do it again I will buy direct.

Buy direct cheapest I have seen them. I inquired about the weight of Z06 repo here is what they sent me:
stock zo6 wheels 19x10= 27
20x12= 29
Replicas 19x10= 31.45
20x12= 36.7
I get your concern for weight but everyone I have talked to say it's not noticable unless your racing.

I ran a set of Factory Reproduction C5 Z06 replicas on my ‘03 for 9+ years with no problems and actually they were on the car since it was new back in 2003. I also have a set of C7 ZR1 reproduction wheels on my ‘14 C7 and have had no problems.

Factory Reproductions wheels are cast, just like OEM. They weigh a bit more though, so one can assume they are more durable as they are either thicker or denser.

I found a crack in my passenger side rear also, in October. No air leaking.
A friend told me about a machine-shop/welding that repairs wheels.
Very nice, $85. Look around in your area.
If all fails, House of Wheels in Florida!

I am not trying to badmouth anybody but when I bought my Grand Sport as a Chevrolet Certified Used Car it came with Factory Reproductions ZR1 Replica black painted wheels on it. Between November 21 and February 22 all 4 of them cracked. The dealer replaced the two front and I replaced the 2 rear. I decided to go ahead and replace these Factory Reproduction wheels before they cracked. The car now has Rohanna RFX11 rotary forged wheels on it. I sold the Factory Reproduction wheels.

Depends on how they are made. There is a good YouTube video that explains the different constructions with and the least strenght being a Cast, Low Pressure Cast, Rotary Forged and the strongest Forged.
Very few wheels are cast only and most of the OEM's are Low Pressure Cast..Prices increase rapidaly on the Rotary Forged and Forged Wheels. I was quoted $2400 for Rotary Formed for a GS and Forged were $5000 and up.

I've been looking at Factory Reproductions FR25 rears.
They seem to match the C7 GS wheels.
Anyone have any experience with them?

OK G M made a bad series of our wheels and will not own up to it!!
WestCoast is WAY BETTER than O E M
11 years on my 2006 Z51 and now 3 years on may 2019 G S without any problems.
I will buy from again for the next car!

NOTE: Some (most?) vendors selling these wheels take your order and then have them drop shipped from Factory Reproductions. Mine were ordered through Florida Speed Shop. Great service.

I was looking to buy one, but Factory Reproductions doesn't have them anymore.
