Default Throttle Hang?

2015 Z06 Manual 7 speed.
In neutral if you just want to give it a little rev, you know for fun, or your friends wanting to hear it, it seems to hang around where you rev to before falling back down. Is this because of a heavy flywheel? Basically it seems to take longer than I would think for the revs to come back down. Anyone else notice this?

it's an emissions thing, it's called rev hang. totally normal and it isn't because the car is drive by wire.

I had a built NA LS2 in a car that would do the same thing. It would hang at about 2 grand before setting on its normal idle at 1200 rpm. I guess I don't notice it in the Vette so much since I got used to it in that other car.

Why? It doesn't hurt anything and if you want to give your friends a show winging on the throttle in neutral is sort of a poor way to do that since engine rpm is limited when winging in neutral. Get them in the car and take it out where you can go wide open through 4th gear. That will open their eyes when they hear that engine scream to 6400 rpm before the shift to the next gear.

My A6 does the same thing - they call it performance shifting. Did not know the manual did that too.

its due to reving engine before engine has warmed up! One it is warm it won’t do it in neutral or any other gear. It will rev Normal!

'15 M7 Stingray - doesn't seem to do that. Can't recall one that did. (This is my 6th - ALL manuals).
