Worth every penny. C7 is an amazing Corvette, a continuation of the heritage and a true work of art. Best Corvette to date in my little book
I agree. For a generation that was not supposed to be anything more than a "place holder", GM hit the ball clear out of the park with the C7. Having owned a C6, C7, and now a C8, I can honestly say that nothing beats the looks of the C7 wide body coupe. The C8 is the more "exotic" looking car, but the C7 is just classically beautiful (that's my C8 on the right)...

Based on that article, the C7 was an incredible bargain for what the car turned out to be - a world class sports car. Sure glad they found the money for its development.
Not thinking this article is news to anyone. Seems to be the natural course of events in any American marketplace. The only twist to this new model cycle was the pandemic.
The fact the car is so good makes some of the design aspects more glaringly crazy, such as: no mechanical back-up for the gas-door, the craziness of the battery placement, and the positive-buss design at the battery.

I cured the gas door issue with a 1/2” rubber stopper from a big box store.
Still has the annoying clicks when opening the door. But, I don’t need to worry
about jumping out of the car to open the gas door anymore.

The battery & buss placements aren't a problem. The gas door? Yah, that needed an inside pull handle.
