Default The next car . . .

I am currently driving a 2016 Z06 and have about 15,000 miles on her. I am driving daily to work 20 miles round trip. I know the price of tires and value of the car and am thinking of a replacement for the Z06. I have driven Vettes for 32 years and have owned nothing else. So my question is in this dilemma what car would still give me the acceleration but be cheaper to maintain and a good safety rating? And what would be your choice of daily driver given this criteria? Thanks in advance for your replies, Cheryl

Try this question in Other Cars. It's been asked before and many people (from all Gens) like to offer their opinion.

I will just offer that I've owned 42 Corvettes over 49 years and all considered my current '23 C8 Z51 is my favorite to date. I will keep it until my allocation comes up for a Z06 in about 2 years.

100% I’d go with the CTS-V3. Luxury and performance.

Keep the one you have and it will run for 100,000 miles and save you the cost of another boring vehicle!

The obvious answer (if acceleration is the only thing you want) is something electric. Other than something like a Porsche Taycan, just about all EVs have great acceleration but are not so great at handling/braking.

If you still want something that goes “vroom” though, a Z06’s acceleration is going to be tough to match by something with cheaper operating costs. Yes it has very expensive tires, but so does everything that has that kind of performance. And then safety rating? Now we’re probably looking more towards SUV/crossover type vehicles. And those chew up tires even faster.

The C7 is really a very safe car, gets decent gas mileage and with proper maintenance can be very reliable.

Another vote for Charger or challenger but they do eat some rear tires but super comfortable.

I own a 2017 Grand Sport. Bought the ZL1 in 2022. Unbelievable bang for the buck for $70k new. The 10 speed automatic is a gem. Great car on the street and track. Don't see many on the road either.

Yep, I agree, The ZL1 looks great and I'm sure it's a sweet ride.
